Came back home rather late yesterday evening, so I was really too tired to anything more than poke at FaceBook games. ;)
Xmas celebration was nice, quiet, comfy, and pleasant. :) My brother picked me up around noon and we headed over to parents' so we could help out with the food. We had a lot of nice discussions... which for some reason always seemed to gravitate towards sex. O.o Well, not so unusual in our family, I suppose, but this was bordering on ridiculous. ;)
Had a moment of honesty early in the day when I actually finally let stepdad and bro know what the hell my ex did to me during the last 10 years I was together with him. Well, not in detail, but they now know about the rapes, both the ones he did himself and the fact that he invited people home, promising them sex with me against my will... So that bit was rather shocking for them, I think (mum already knew), but it didn't kill xmas for any of us. We do deal professionally with other ppl's traumas all the time, so we can handle talking about our own in a rather objective way.
Surprisingly, no one fell asleep after xmas gifting, like they always, always do! And here I was all prepared with a good book to read, my Japanese learning books, my laptop and a DVD, and also a number of fic I need to write. I had so much I could have done while they were sleeping, and they just wouldn't fall asleep this year! O.o.
It's just like bringing an umbrella just so it won't rain, right? LOL
I'll bring as much to do next year too, just to keep them awake! *grin*
I got some really awesome presents this year: a new battery for my MacBook, a media station thingie so I can play downloaded files on my TV while sitting in the sofa (very useful, believe me), a leather jacket (which I knew about already, because I had to try it on in the shop, and I also know it was a bargain, otherwise I wouldn't have let mum buy it for me), a subscription to a magazine, a giftcard in one of my fav shops, and an antique set of coffee cups and stuff.
From my ex (yes, the ex I mentioned above) and his gf, I got a weird little table fountain, a hair clip, a calendar with nekkid men, and a book on BDSM in German...
Xmas day was, as is the tradition in our family, set aside for turkey, the cooking and eating thereof. :D Yum. Weirdly enough, it seemed like we not only got our hands on the biggest turkey we've ever managed (5.2 kgs), but also the fastest. It took only 2 hours to cook it! O.o That has never happened before. We've had to wait 3-4 hours for smaller turkeys to get done. Odd. However, it was incredibly yummy! Sadly, after the four of us had eaten our fill, there wasn't that much left over. *sigh* I have no idea how we manage that.
So, today, I have figured out a solution to the media station problem of not speaking with Macs, and also been hanging out on the couch watching Togainu no Chi on my TV. :) Those files that I couldn't get an image on recently? This device, that is specifically made for playing mkv files among others, can't get more than sound from them either. So, I maintain that the subber group has fucked the files up.
But watching the GazettE avi files on my TV was pretty awesome. :)
Speaking of Togainu... I'm not exactly impressed with the ending. Or rather, the first half of this last episode. Damn, that was lazy animation! Letting us see run-down and broken buildings and a dark sky while the main characters are fighting to the death off screen? And just giving us the sounds? What the fucking fuck???!!!?!?!? *frowns*
At least I got a quick glimpse of my beloved Kau. He's all right. :) And he's with Arbitro. :) \o/ So... the series is over. *sigh* I liked it, I loved the world and some of the characters, and the potential it has. The execution (mwahahahah, see what I did there?) of it, however, was not always the optimal. (Gods, do I have to be so damn diplomatic? The last episode sucked! There, I said it!) The series as a whole, though, remains one that I really really like and that I will continue to write in! :D I will not let go of Arbitro/Kau that easily! :D
