I recently got directed this way from a comment in
mormon, and since I absolutely love temples and they make any dark day super bright, I thought I'd post a few pictures!
I went out to Utah for the first time in November and pretty much quadrupled the number of temples I've seen [I live eight hours from a temple]. Now I've seen Chicago [where I usually go to], Washington D.C., Manhattan, Salt Lake City, Provo, Ogden, Jordan River, Bountiful, Logan, Mount Timpanogos. I've seen Detroit without even realizing it, either! I drive by there when I go to meetings [it's also about eight hours away].
I also went out to conference last week and snapped a couple pictures that I haven't yet developed, and I got to do temple work in Ogden [I've done work only in Chicago and Salt Lake City]! I know it's not the most "bride-friendly" temple...but going inside, it's absolutely beautiful. I had the most amazing temple experience for this certain name, too!
Anyway, here are some pictures. :)
Logan, UT - Our home teachers growing up always talked about how they married here, so I've always wanted to see it. My friend took a tardy at work just so he could drive me up there to see it before I came back home! It's so beautiful.
Salt Lake City, UT - Well, of course.
I realize this is not a temple...but I had to share. Back in November the tour guide I had in the Joseph Smith History building snuck me up to this room (which is now open as a theatre in the building) which was being renovated so I could see the sculptures. The picture does not do it justice!!! It was AMAZING...a pretty much lifesize First Vision. I stared for about 15 minutes in awe. And if you look close, you can see the Salt Lake Temple outside the window. It was such a beautiful place to be standing. [Don't mind me, it's quite a horrible picture of myself]
Taken from on the top floor of the Joseph Smith building.
Provo, UT - Yet another one that people don't think as "bride friendly"...but it really is beautiful. The backdrop as you drive by is gorgeous because it's as if it's wedged between two mountains. It's just wonderful!
Mt. Timpanogos Temple [in American Fork], UT - This temple is so beautiful, as well! I've seen some amazing wedding pictures taken here. I love how they look so small in pictures, but up close they're just glorious! And the GLOW that they have, especially at night...it's a special kind of glow. Love love love it!
Jordan River Temple [in West or South Jordan...I'm not sure :)], UT - Yet another temple that looks small in pictures that is really ginormous! I fall in love everytime I see one. When I went out last week I went to my friend's grandparent's for dinner, and this temple is right in their backyard! It was so amazing to sit in the rocking chair and look out the window at the glowing temple with mountains all around. Just PERFECT!!! They have a picture they took on their wall of their orchard blooming and the temple hovering over it. It's so beautiful!
