Stop this anti-social friends only weblog bullshit. Here's why:
- When anybody can read it, you have to think before hitting "Update," thus I have less crap to wade through when I try to recall weekend silliness or somesuch on your journal.
- I can link to it.
- If you're using a protected entry to talk behind somebody's back, just don't do it. It's immature, you're not guaranteeing that they won't see it ever, and you might regret it later. Plus, people will just see you as an obnoxious ass with nothing more interesting to write than insults.
- You don't make friends by excluding everybody who is not already a friend.
- If you are protecting entries because your dad discovered your journal, I give the same advice: think before writing. He's heard you say "fuck," so you know that one is OK. Think about others.
Sure, there are times when it is worth it to write in protected mode, but most entries I read are not things that should be hidden. Most of it is inane, and some of it could stand to be smoothed out by the author knowing that anybody may read it.
