They're a young Danish couple. Nice, fun people. I kind of wish they wanted to hang out more and eat dinner together and stuff, but I guess they like having lots of private time.
The Danish language is weird--parts of it sound like German, parts like French, parts like Brooklyn English, and parts like British English. My icon (note the snow) says "Hello from Copenhagen" (and for the record, Danes do say "CopenhAYgen," not "CopenhAHgen"), and it's pronounced "Hi frah Köbenhown," with the "r" pronounced the French way. My favorite thing is that for goodbye, you say "hej, hej" ("hi-hi!"). Danes are the opposite of French people--where French people tended to assume I didn't know French well until I proved otherwise, Danish people assume I know Danish and act accordingly. Which is very nice of them, but they're wrong.
I took the day off today--there were optional field trips, and I opted out. I hope Rachel doesn't mind that I skipped out even though we signed up together, but I was really exhausted and decided I could use some time to relax and organize my stuff before classes start tomorrow. I slept 'til noon; it was glorious. Didn't get that much done, but I feel pretty good. Less stressed out about getting around the non-gridded streets with the convoluted transit. (When it gets nicer out, I'm going to look into walking home instead of taking public transport.) Every now and then, not leaving the house is nice.
In case you couldn't tell, I finally got a digital camera! Which is dangerous, because now I'm tempted to play with it and Photoshop ALL THE TIME.
So yeah, that's what's new.
