Holiday Travel
timeline:
3:00AM - wake up and get ready to leave for airport
4:00AM - leave for airport preparing to face terrible traffic and long lines
5:00AM - arrive airport to drop off Kath (no traffic, no lines)
5:30AM - return rental car and head back to airport
6:00AM - get to gate and start waiting
8:55AM - first flight to Detroit departs (tried to get on stand by, but flight was completely sold out)
10:00AM - announcement is made that my 11AM flight is being pushed back to 2:15 due to mechanical problems
11:00AM - original time I should have left
11:30AM - announcement made that all passengers should return to the ticketing counter or risk not making it out at all (ticket counter cant do anything to help and sends me back through security to the gate again to wait for 2:15PM with a coupon for $10 off food and 1000 frequent flier miles)
12:30PM - next flight to Detroit leaves with a plane full of stranded people waiting on standby and containing all luggage from the 11AM flight
1:00PM - flight further delayed until 5:15PM
1:01PM - on the phone to travel services tring to cancel everything and get a car so I can just go home (somehow that was illegal and causeed huge huge problems)
1:30PM - convince ticket agent to book me on a United flight leaving LAX at 2:40
1:35PM - leave Northwest terminal 2 and hoof it across LAX to Untied terminal 7 where I hae to check in again and go through security for the 3rd time
2:45PM - depart LAX (finally!) and fly to Denver
6:57PM - depart Denver and fly to Detroit
11:35PM - arrive Detroit
12:15PM - arrive home
