The Basic Set-up

So, here's the story:

I am a 47-year-old mother of six crazy kids. I also have two dogs, two rabbits, one cat, and one workaholic husband. I tutor English in Frankfurt, Germany. I am writing a novel just to see if I can. And I started this blog because, apparently, I hadn't got enough on my plate.

Here is the cast of characters for future reference:

Liza: That's me. You'll learn about me as we go along.

Dave: Workaholic husband. Has his own company doing incomprehensible things with cell phones. Their newest product can be found here: bigredzebra.de

Samantha (1980): Much more organized, conservative and normal than either of her parents. Is married to a lovely man. Is finishing up a degree in psychology and plans to be a therapist. Lives right here in Frankfurt.

Nathan (1983): Fellow baseball fan. Spends his time traveling from here to his lovely girlfriend's in Austria. Is finishing up a degree in computer science and is still in the process of figuring out what to do next. Lives about an hour away.

Rebecca (1985): My sounding board for the novel. Is finishing up a degree in business administration and is leaning toward working in acquisitions and mergers. Big finance guru stuff. Lives with her lovely boyfriend in Frankfurt.

Maxx (1989): Another baseball fan. Is finishing up high school and doesn't yet know what she wants to major in. Chemistry is the frontrunner at the moment. Has a lovely boyfriend.

Alexander (1992): The teddy bear. Is taking the end of tenth grade tests to qualify him for college prep high school. Is in a drum corps, playing the base drum. Enjoys building things and taking things apart to see how they work.

Victoria (2000): The nest egg. The bonus baby. Is in second grade and the one who keeps us young. Or makes us feel old. It depends.

Note: Yes, actually, all my children's partners are lovely people. I haven't referred to them by name because this blog is public. I feel like I can exploit my own kids without their permission, but not their partners.

kids, family, motherhood, welcome
