So, one of the recent challenges at
lost_land was to come up with 8 song titles, along with a verse and chorus for each song. A slightly daunting task, but was actually a lot of fun. I make up words to songs all the time for my students, so once I thought of it that way, everything was good. You should try singing the lyrics to the specific songs. It actually works pretty well! :)
“Hurley-bird” (sung to Yesterday by The Beatles)
Hurley-bird,
Oh, I swear I heard you call my name,
But it looks like no one heard.
Oh, Hurley-bird, I heard you.
Hurley-bird,
Why won’t you come back to me?
Why won’t you show them you are real?
They think I’m crazy, oh, Hurley-bird.
You flew past so quick, I wasn’t sure.
I know I heard you call my name, oh, Hurley-bird.
“Keep Running Away” (sung to Shake, Rattle and Roll by Bill Haley and his Comets)
Get on your shoes and don’t forget the car keys.
Get on your shoes and don’t forget the car keys.
You better start running ‘cause they’re coming after you.
You gotta run, far away.
You gotta run, far away.
You gotta run, far away.
You gotta run, far away.
You never do nothing but keep on running away.
“Stayed” (sung to Time of Your Life by Green Day)
I thought you left me; you were sitting on the docks.
Looking at the water, and wishing you could leave.
I’m glad I stopped you from leaving me there,
With the scientist, Korean and the ghostbuster.
I didn’t want to be alone, not left alone with them.
I’m glad you stayed and had my back.
“Dharma” (sung to Downtown by Petula Clark)
When you are here everyone is so friendly, you should stay right here: Dharma
If you are scared then you can always just call the security office: Dharma.
Just listen to the breezes as they flutter through the trees.
You can hear the children just laughing with the beees.
Isn’t it fun? The grass is much greener and look everything is cleaner in
Dharma: Everything’s great here.
Dharma: You can relate here.
Dharma: We’re all just waiting for you.
“Smoke Monster Run” (sung to Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones)
The smoke monster’s gonna come and get me.
I just run and he always finds me.
But I run and I run and I run up the tree.
I’m just running! Away from him!
When I’m running through the trees and the branches slap at me.
I just want to get away before he comes after me.
I’m just running!
“Remember Me” (sung to Probably Wouldn’t be This Way by Leann Rimes)
I’m sorry that I didn’t get to say it sooner.
I wish that I had just said it once.
You were always there when I needed you.
And now what are you going to do.
I’m sorry Claire; I’m sorry that I’m leaving you alone with Aaron.
I just want you to know, that I loved you so much.
I wish that things were different, that I was there for you always.
I’m certain that you’ll be okay. Jack’ll look after you.
Now I know that I’m so lucky to have loved you.
But do me one thing, just one thing I ask.
Please remember me.
“Oh Walt” (sung to Mmmbop by Hanson)
I’ve lost my son have you seen him, I can’t find him anywhere.
The Others took him away from our raft, he was gone so fast.
So I’m looking around for him, I’ve travelled to the Others camp.
I have to bring back all my friends, just to save Walt. Just to save Walt.
Oh Walt, where’d ya go? My son, have you seen him.
Oh Walt, where did you go? WWWAALLTT.
Oh Walt, where’d ya go? My son, have you seen him.
Oh Walt, where did you go? WWWAALLTT.
“Squirrel Baby” (sung to You Really Got Me by The Kinks)
Squirrel. I have a squirrel baby. Yes I know he’s not my baby but he’s mine.
Yeah, I have a squirrel baby. He might be freaky looking but he’s mine.
Have you seen my baby? I’m looking for my baby, I can’t find him.
Oh yeah, have you seen my baby? Have you seen him I’m looking for him?
Have you seen him?
Have you seen him?
Have you seen him?
