Aaron and I went to the
State Fair yesterday with Paul and Mandi. This was the third year we've gone and it was even better this year. For the pats two years they moved the the Fair from the Richmond Raceway up to the Meadow Event Park. It's nicer up there than the Raceway and it is spread out more.
There are some really fun things to do at the fair including animals, biggest vegetables, the shows and the food. We walked around the livestock areas. They had everything from alpacas to ducks. They had a really large pig and TONS of cows. I even had a cow suck on my fingers. Oh my gosh! So cute!
Alpacas!
We didn't really look at the vegetables, though we did see the biggest pumpkins as the Fair crew was moving them with the forklift. We did watch a guy sculpting with a chainsaw. He made an eagle while we were watching. So cool! I've seen a lot of the sculptures in TN, but never watched someone actually sculpt.
Chainsaw sculptures
We also went into a SideShow and watched the 'Freaks'. They had a human blockhead (someone who shoves stuff up their nose), a human pretzel, a fire manipulator and a sword swallower. It was pretty cool. I'm not that into that stuff, but the look on Aaron's face was priceless. His eyes lit up like it was Christmas. I wish Mandi and I had gotten a picture.
Then. The best part of the fair has to be the food. There is nearly everything from frozen cheesecake and bananas on a stick to fried stuff. OMG the fried stuff. Mandi had fried mac & cheese and Aaron and I had fried pickles. SO GOOD! You wouldn't think it would be, but they were awesome. Kind of like the fried green beans that T.G.I.Fridays makes. Oh yeah, the fair had those too. For dinner, Paul had the infamous Donut burger. It's a hamburger with cheese and bacon on a glazed donut. Both he and Aaron said it was delicious. I didn't want to try any. I could feel my arteries hardening as I looked at it.

Then, as we were getting ready to leave, Aaron decided he wanted a fried twinkie. Well, the shop was out of twinkies, so he got a Fried Snickers Bar. OMG. That was quite possibly the best thing I have ever tasted. I love Snickers Bars, but this was even better than I can imagine. It was heaven on a stick. And no, I'm not exaggerating. Absolutely amazing.
Aaron wants to get a deep fryer now, so that we can deep fry stuff on our own. Oh dear...
