I loved that book when I read it a couple of years ago -- it's one that got passed around my family.

That sort of book is less and less common now that mom has a Kindle. :(

I read that book a year or so ago and I LOVED it. I was so disappointed when I found out the author died. The only thing worse than loving a book and flipping to the author information page and reading 'This is her first novel' is reading 'This was her first novel'.

FWIW, maryread read Eat Pray Love expecting to be annoyed and actually liked it. I suspect that the movie is all the horror that the book is not, if that (um) helps.

perhaps i malign it where i might enjoy it, but considering the huge number of books that i want to read and can't find enough time for, i think i'll play the percentages and skip that one.

I'm not planning to read it, either. However, if either of us finds ourselves trapped with only two books to read, and one of them is EPL, it might be better than oh Dianetics.
