chicago people, we're at it again. here's the announcement for our all-day singing down in hyde park--now's your chance to try it out and see if you enjoy it!
Dear Singers,
The Hyde Park All-Day Sing will be held again this year on the Saturday before the first Sunday in November, that is October 31st.
The singing will be from 10:00 A.M. to 3:30pm, with potluck dinner on the grounds. (Local singers, please bring food. Sorry, there will be no refrigeration or warming facilities.) We're looking forward to singing in the truly beautiful recital room of Goodspeed Hall (1010 E. 59th St.), hosted by the Music Department on the University of Chicago campus. Enter the Quadrangle on foot through the passage from 59th Street (one-way Westbound) just before Ellis Avenue, and look for signs to the left. On Saturdays, ample street parking is available along 59th Street and the adjacent Midway Plaisance.
We'll sing from the 1991 Denson revision, and also from the 2005 Missouri Harmony. If you own a copy of the Missouri Harmony, or a box of loaners, please bring them to the singing so that we can enjoy new tunes along with our old favorites.
shapenote,
