She swore she’d never wear a swimsuit again.
Then he invited her to Sydney for New Year’s.
He wanted to take her to his favorite beach, he said, and wouldn’t accept no for an answer.
She had debated with herself, how much she wanted to see him versus the vow to stay out of swimwear and sun.
Still she clutched her cover-up around her after he’d shed his t-shirt, feeling suddenly foolish. In her conservative one-piece, as cute as it had been in the department store mirror, she was going to look like a desperate old hag next to this beautiful nineteen-year-old boy in the prime of youth.
He grinned and waved a tube of SPF-50 sunscreen in front of her, eliminating her last excuse.
With a sigh, she closed her eyes and dropped her cover. If he thought she looked ridiculous, at least she wouldn’t have to see it on his face.
The sun was hot on her skin, and his presence behind her hotter, the touch of his hands as he brushed the hair away from her neck, as his fingers began massaging the lotion over her shoulders. He worked slowly, one hand rubbing up and down her arm, and when she shivered, he chuckled, nipping at her ear with those teeth....
Maybe the beach wasn’t the worst place to spend winter break.
