[author's notes] So I was in Guadalajara, and one of the conferences was so boring, that I took my pen and a piece of paper and wrote this. It's the fourth of five ficlets I've written during my trip to Guadalajara in the beginning of May.
The clock ticks away the minutes after it strikes midnight. Katy feels the tears building up at the back of her eyes, desperation ready to burst. It's not the first time, and it most certainly won't be the last if she keeps on keeping quiet about it. She can't speak up, she can't tell him how much it hurts, because then he would leave, and Katy prefers having a shell of her marriage than not having anything at all.
Kris doesn't come home. And Katy is too tired to pick up the phone and call Adam to ask if her husband is alright. She knows he's happy, and it's enough for her, even if she dies every second he runs away.
