almost forgot!

Costume College was a tiny blip on the radar this year, due to the fact that I forgot about it when I made the summer class schedule, so I only had Friday afternoon to attend. Sucky! Still, I managed to spend quite a good amount of money in the market place. The single lecture I attended was wonderful - the average American Woman's dress in the 1860's. I am usually much more interested in what the plain folks wore than what the fancy folks wore, and the lecturer ( Rebecca Thelin) was awesome! Very detailed with a great handout. Here is some stuff I snagged -

5 yard rolls of lovely embroidered ribbon. I want to sew it on everything!

Some vintage glass & shell buttons. I could have easily spent $200, but I didn't. There's always next year!

This completely amazing book about textile design. It's at the shop, but I'll edit this to give all the info when I get home tomorrow. My students, upon looking through it, all ask, So where can I get this fabric? and I just laugh and laugh... and then of course explain that this is museum fabric so you can look at it but not have it. Torture!

I would like to teach again next year - this year it was impossible with the business being so new. I have a very nice lady tell me that the altering a corset to fit class I taught was one of her favorite ever! I'm thinking that this year I might do an altering a gown to fit class where maybe you would leave with a finished pattern. I don't know, though, most CC'ers know how to do this sort of thing. We shall see... I'd love to do one of the Decades patterns!
