A morning conversation with my best beloved (rough transcript from memory, not exact quotations).
Me: "So, I'm thinking about giving up cigarettes for Lent."
Her: "[long pause] ... I'm going to be there for much of Lent, aren't I?"
"Um, yeah. Sorry about that."
"When does Lent start again?"
"Next Wednesday."
"Oh, good. So there are a couple of weeks before I get there. You'd better be nice to me on Valentine's Day, though."
The things I put her through. Seriously.
