It's finally over...except for:

Well, the holidays are over; however, we still have the big bowl game, Dallas and whoever is left, and the Superbowl of course. I''m pretty tired of football. I've tried reallly hard to be a Dallas fan; however, they make it really hard to be one. I don't think Bill Parcells is really into the game anymore. He mostly just stands there looking bewildered...unless someone on his team does something good, and then he kisses and hugs everyone. He really doesn't shout much or get emotionally involved. He should kick TO everytime he drops the ball and yell at Romo when he does something dumb. I don't understand how they can be so good for a couple of games and then be so bad. I just don't understand it. However, I don't know how Indpls. could lose to Dallas. I will keep on trying to be a Dallas fan until Parcells leaves and then maybe I won't. I'm a closet Indy fan, not because I'm from there but because I like Manning. I love most of his commercials.

Christmas was fun but very tiring. After Christmas, I had a luncheon for a few of my lady friends which was a giant success. We all agreed that Robert Redford is old, but we still think he's sexy. Probably we would put a sack over his head, but his body is still nice.

We had a very small party on Friday after Christmas to get to know the guys across the street and to fix up another guy across the other street with a lady friend of ours. That didn't work out. You know, when you have a very small party and someone doesn't come, it becomes a VERY VERY small party. It was fun though. We used to have large parties, but I don't like doing that anymore. There were so few people at this party that everyone got to sit on the furniture. We got new furniture about Thanksgiving. So, it was nice to have a party with new furniture. Probably it's the last new furniture that we'll have during our lifetime. (Just living room)

Before Christmas, Amy told me that she and Matt were not eating meat anymore. Plus, John can't eat meat, cheese, chocolate, and a bunch of other stuff so dinner was a challenge. I fixed a potato and artichoke and shrimp fritata. It had red peppers on the top (actually the bottom which became the top when you flipped it) but it didn't have a great deal of taste. I couldn't find the right peppers, until tonight when we went to Spec's booze shop and they had Piquillo peppers in a jar. So I bought some and thought I'd try putting them on polenta and bake them. Might not be good but it might. (I'm tired and need to go to bed but I've started this and intend to finish it. I haven't posted for a while except about the Boise State game and I'll probably forget stuff if I don't get it down) Anyway, I also made Cow Patties which are chocolate and almonds and raisins and I thought they were really good. It's candy. and it's super easy which is a good thing. The fritata was a little complicated and the handle came off of the skillet when we took it out of the oven and tried to figure out how to turn it over without dropping it on the floor. It was kinda pretty but, as I said before, not real tasty. I hope by next year everyone is eating turkey. I made German potato salad for the party and it was pretty good. My mom always had German p.s. with ham at the holidays and I've missed it.

So, the holidays are over and I can not cook until next Thanksgiving. Hopefully, Amy will have Thanksgiving at her house next year and it won't be as stressful. Buddy's mom had a meltdown the last time we had Christmas at her house, and I think I know how she felt. Stress is more stressful when you get older. Plus, knowing what moms and grammas go through is more appreciative when you get there.

I'm going to shut my fingers up and go to bed. Happy New Year!!
