Blogember Day 12
Hello!
Happy 11/12/13! The next time something like this happens is December 13, 2014. I think it's pretty cool.
Today, day 12: your first pet:
Sadly, I didn't adopt my first pet until 3 years ago. Alfredo, or Fredo for short, came into our lives about a year after my dad died.
We had been talking about getting a pet for a while, but hadn't quite decided what we wanted. Eventually we decided on a cat. We started researching places to adopt from, and the place we eventually decided to go with was a place that a family friend volunteered at. We began by looking at pictures online of the cats that they had. We went to the shelter thinking that we wanted a cat who was a couple of years old and grey or black in coloring.
Well, when we went to the shelter, one kitten stuck out. He was only 4 months old and all white. He kept coming over to us as we were looking around. He stole our hearts that day, and hasn't let go. We signed the adoption papers and brought him home that day. His name is Alfredo because the woman who was fostering the mama cat when she was pregnant was Italian. She named the kittens Dino, Marco, Rocco, and Alfredo.
This picture is from shortly after we brought him home. He has grown so much in the last three years. The pink ball in the picture is a toy that one of the staff members at the shelter had brought. She bought new toys shortly before we finalized the adoption. Fredo went running over to it, and kind of claimed it as his. They told us that we could bring it home with us because Fredo didn't really want to give it up. To this day, it remains one of his favorite toys.
