All You Need is "Love"

Vegas Trip Continues......

So now after an evening of drinking my favorite lemon-drop martinis, feeling good, losing money in the damn slot machines (but a few wins here and there), my 'climax' of the weekend was upon us.

As I mentioned before, Don only knew I had tickets to "Love", but he wasn't aware of the VIP upgrade I added.  So I kept it mum until we got to the theatre and Don had asked what the Tapis Rouge was.  I told him not to worry about it because he was about to experience it and filled him in on the details... And, trust me, the Cirque doesn't hold back to give everyone an experience.  From the moment you enter the lobby to the moment the show is over, you're enveloped in it!  It's one of the reasons I've become a fan of the Cirque.

We got in, got our special VIP badges, and milled around the lobby:

The cute ticket girls were all dressed in English Bobby uniforms.

A shot of the lobby:

So the excitement really got going when they opened up the theatre and we got our seats, row B and this was our view (mind you, I only snuck this shot BEFORE the show.  I'd NEVER take any during):

The staging area was big and extended in many different directions with the audience sitting all around.  There were two huge screens on either side which projected various images throughout the show.  They also had many drop down screens come in and out during the performance to enhance the visuals.

For those of you not familiar with Cirque shows, they have a habit of enhancing their acts with various background images or people or something... This show was almost over the top (in a fantastic way).  I've never been to a Cirque show that had my head spinning in all directions to soak everything in!  There were performers in the air, on the stage, things flying in the air, images on the screens, a fucking awsome surround sound system (speakers in the back of your seat as well as in front of you), flashing lights, dancing, etc.... It was Cirque overload!  My face hurt from all the smiling and jaw dropping images you were exposed to!

I won't give details of the show so not to ruin your experience should you go. Just know that all the music used is remastered and mixed original tracks made by the Beatles.  And the show spans their story in an interesting historical perspective (the 60s & 70s).  So the images go from somber (Elenor Rigby) to the psychadelic (Octopus's Garden / Here Comes the Sun).  Simply incredible!  My favorite time of the show were the rollerbladers with their furry rollerblades (like Ug-Boots) zooming past us so fast, you could feel the breeze they made!  WOW!

So fast track to after the show....
You're head still swimming with the images and music and talent, we were now headed to part 2 of our VIP tickets, the private cocktail reception at the Revolution Lounge.  We were greeted with a warm welcome as we arrived to the club and told to enjoy the rest of our evening.

Inside, we were again in awe of the design of the place.  It wasn't a big club, but flashy with glass ornaments hanging from the ceiling, image projections on the walls, an open bar for the VIPs (us, YAY), fresh snaks, interactive tabletops, chocolate strawberries that you had to 'pick' from the flower arrangements, and various music from the Beatles.

The "Graffiti Wall"- The images projected on this wall were from images you "painted" on the table tops.  Almost like having a giant iPhone screen!

This is the bar that had images projected on the back wall:

It was really funny when we walked in and one of the bar waitresses (dressed in 60s miniskirt) asked what we wanted from the bar.  I don't get to experience many VIP times in life and I asked her what was available.  Duh, OPEN bar = FREE drinks!  It took me a little "adjustment" to realize we were being treated like VIP and everything was complementary.  So I stuck with my favorite lemon martinis throughout the night, but Don decided to try each of their signature drinks (Mean Mr. Mustard, Fab 4, and some blueberry martini thing).

We had a fantastic evening and had chatted with some lovely couple from Edinburg, Scotland, and played with the interactive tables:

So the overall experience was fantastic!~  We stayed until around 10:30 and headed back to our room with the included gift bag from the Cirque (containing a special martini glass, coasters, and the big program of the show).

I want to extend a special "Thank You" and huge hug to Daddy George ( whtbraces  ) for his input and suggestions for our seats!  And a great big hug & thank you to my buddy, pup Don ( leashdog ) for sharing the whole weekend with me.

Buzz out
