Box Tops for Education

Hey everyone. Random request: I just found out that my son's school collects the Box Tops for Education. You know, those stupid little emblems on the tops of cereal boxes and Ziploc container boxes and stuff like that.

If your local school collects them, please donate to your local school. If not, would you consider sending them to me? I'd be willing to send something back in return.

My son attends the same Catholic grade school that my father went to when he was of age. Some of the teachers are still the same, even. Unfortunately, the nuns had to return to Ireland, some after being here for 40 or more years. I'm still not really sure why, but I think it had to do with the parish not being able to support them anymore. Don't quote me on that, though - it's not like I heard that first-hand or anything, I only heard from my mom.

So, yeah, anything that will help. The site has a list of participating products, which has hugely expanded over the years. Each ticket is usually worth about 10c, which may not seem like much. But when you combine it among hundreds of submissions from hundreds of people, it makes a difference.

I'm not asking you to switch brands of anything so you can buy items that participate. But if you've got Cheerios or Cottonelle hanging around the house like I do, what would it take to tear off that little piece when you throw out the box?

Thanks everyone. Man, I didn't mean to sound so guilt-trippy. Fucking charity things. Sorry about that. Like I said, don't go out and buy anything special. But if you have some, please pass them on, if you're not already giving them to your school.

that's ham-azing!
