the latest meme to reach my notice is one of userpics. in this one, a person chooses 5 of your userpics and asks you to explain them.
you can leave me a comment and ask about more if you like.
if you want me to do the same to you, leave me a comment and i will ask about 5 of yours.

mkb_technologie asked about these 5:

cherry lemonade
The picture itself was taken at a Denny's in Atlantic City during [Meet Me Tonight in Atlantic City], second day. Hell, mkb_technologie, I think you and m0xiee were at the table. I was on a SERIOUS cherry lemonade kick at the time, and Denny's does do them quite well (one of few). More importantly, it was incredibly pretty, and it kind of called out to me -- sour tempered with sweet, obnoxiously bright, and it's CHERRY. I'm a sucker for all things cherry. This was my first food icon.
Also, technically, this is one of the few icons where I appear. I couldn't cut my elbow out of the shot.
(Funny story -- I threw that shirt out two years ago because I wore it out. One of my students this quarter has the same shirt.)

walking sign
This was my working-out icon when I was focusing on walking for health. That kind of fell off when, well, I got lazy, and then I fucked up my back, and then we moved, and then I found out about the arthritis, and then ...
It also carries a "progress, if slowly" meaning for me. But mostly, I stole it from my other account (tuura) when I stopped using it.

gerbera daisy
This is my favorite flower. I prefer them in yellow, but one takes what one can get from GIS. I like this picture, though, because the single flower carries a powerful statement. It's pretty and soft, yet bold at the same time.

67
This was my first ever race number. It was about 96° out that night, and I finished a 5K. I don't think I've ever felt so proud.
Haven't competed (walking, anyway) since last year. However, it works as a general competition sense.
Also, this is one of the few pictures of me. My stomach, anyway. And my company singlet, which totally doesn't fit.

blue sun
APOD FTW! I forget why the sun is blue in this picture -- probably X-rays or something. But anyway, well, you see, it's blue, and it's a sun, so I like to use it when I'm sad. Not very sad ("very sad dog" is for depressed-to-the-point-of-broken sad), but disappointed.
Also, if you ever saw Thomas Dolby's show when he did Windpower, I think this image shows up on the screen. He's definitely got the green one. (I have a collection of sun pictures from APOD.)
