i have a confession to make.
you know how oh_chris is a railroad/subway geek?
well, in that same vein, i'm a road travel geek.
i admit it. i love cars. i love riding in cars. i love driving to new places and seeing new things. i love the fact that i know about sixteen different ways to get to work in the morning, even though i only ever use the same one. i love figuring out a different way to get home every time i want to see my parents and my baby. i love knowing how to get where i need to go, and i love knowing that i have options to get there.
i wake up in the morning to traffic and weather on the metro channel (MTW). i listen to the traffic on my way to and from work. if i go out with chris after work, he quiets down when the traffic report comes on. i watch it sometimes at night, just for the hell of it. if i flip to MTW during commercials, i'll sometimes get too wrapped up in traffic to go back to what i was watching beforehand.
when people ask me for directions, they get incredibly detailed directions on several routes to where they need to be. and i pride myself on that, because when i travel to and from the same point multiple times, i experiment with my trip. i ask people how they go, and i read maps like a good spy novel.
i just love everything there is about driving. even sitting in traffic doesn't piss me off too much. i don't get road rage. i love the sound of the car, and the fact that i'm on the road.
plus, i have a fatty-boom-batty pimp car, or something. (old yeller, my 1982 crown vic. land yacht-er-ific.)
OK, i shut up now. this actually started out as an analysis of what kind of TV i like, and then i thought about why i'm addicted to traffic TV...*sigh*
