Got home from a drive with my dad a little bit ago.

He told me he's "not convinced" about my "choice" and that he will be "pushing back" in order to fill his "fatherly duties".

So, pretty much, he'll be trying to make me straight. For the next 5 YEARS while I live at home for college.

My life just gets... better... and better...

Its going to be hard at the moment hon, you have only just told them and so you need to let them deal with the initial shock - and this is the way your dad is going about it - he thinks that you have made a choice and he will be able to convince you otherwise that its the wrong one.

He will eventually come around when he realises that it isnt something you have decided upon, but the one thing I would agree on with another of your friends here is if you can, move out of home for university. When I told my folks, i was away in another country and didnt see them for a year and so in that time they had their own ways to come to terms with it, which is why I suggest you give them their space for a while.

The fact that your dad wants to (as he puts it) 'help' you and your mother is talking to you is a good sign to start off with tho love - they havent rejected you nor slung you out, so although I know its a big time for you at the moment, try not to be to scared - this could have had a lot more of a worse outcome.

Im here for you if you wanna chat *sngus*
