Hello all!
I have a question for you all and, to make it more than just me babbling on, I have an update on my Beatles cross stitch too!
The Question:
I would like to make a cross stitch for my Mum of York Minster:
I have Jane Greenoff's Cross Stitch Gold program so I have managed to make this into a cross stitch pattern and print it out. I am now stuck because although I can work out how many stitches across and down it is, I can't work out how big (in centimetres or inches) I need to buy the material. It's 897 stitches across by 876 stitches down. I want to do it on 18 count aida but don't have any at home to work out how many stitches per centimetre (or inch) it would do and I don't want to buy it and then have to buy more and work out stitching it together! I've done that before (because I cut a piece of fabric down wrong - I really should learn to double check before picking the scissors up!) and I don't want to experience it again!!
I have tried googling it but my searches just bring up shops and I can't seem to find a site that might help with this so thought I would ask all you lovely people to see if any of you could work it out or guide me to a site that gives me the info to work it out!
The WIP
So that its not just me begging for help, here's what I should have finished by last October. That was when I was seeing the recipient, but because I had a few months where writing had to take precedence, it's not finished and they still don't know about it. I can post here because they neither have livejournal nor know my pseudonym on it!

Yes, that is exactly how long it took me to notice that I was stitching in the wrong colour!! I was following the correct symbol for that colour, but for some reason the key chart had printed off wrong :'( and I didn't check the original picture and didn't twig that it was too green until I got to this point. So, I put it down. Had a little RAWR attack and cry. Picked it up and unpicked the lot!

Then started again! 3rd July 2011:
I don't seem to have many pictures between July 2011 and January 2012 so either I didn't take any or I've not uploaded my camera to the computer yet, because my next pic is 2nd January 2012:
And here it is as of today:
Its going slower than when I first started it, but I've got some time now to sit and do it. It also helps that Netflix have an offer on so I have films and tv shows to watch while I work!
