social change

that was perhaps the most interesting start to the day i've had at my internship so far. the Cops literally walked in the door right behind me to go talk to the executive director of our organization, because evidently her window was shot at several times last night.

of course, i didn't know this and the Cops went directly into her office to talk. then someone from facilities comes in to repair the window, and asks me

"where's the window that was shot at?"

"um...excuse me?"

"the window? I won't be able to replace it today but I can put patches over it for now"

"we got shot at? Hmm. I hadn't heard...but I just walked in the door. Maybe the people in the office over there have heard about it?"

Then Aubrie (my boss/director of operations) sees us through the window of the conference room and comes out to show him where the window is. And afterward explains to me that the window was shot, probably with a BB gun, by someone in the apartment building across the street from us last night.

I stare at her waiting for an explanation of why someone felt the need to shoot at our progressive, contraversial sexual freedom organization.

"They think it was just some kids dicking around."

How anti-climactic.
