ok what's the deal with this "Brangelina" thing? No, okay. I get that it could be construed as cute, even though its not. Maybe in the right context. But I just heard a News anchor refer to Brad and Angelina as Brangelina. He was talking about some new Wax Museum opening with statues of Presidents and celebrities and blah blah. Some people that are going to be featured are John F. Kennedy, Tom Cruise, and Brangelina.
Perhaps this is the problem with our society. If we like people as a couple we turn them into one person. Clearly Brad will have his own wax statue and Angelina will have her own, but god forbid we take the time to acknowlede Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as prominent public figures that will be featured. No no, that takes too much time to say, we better just call them Brangelina and turn two people into one object.
A news anchor. Not E-hollywood or whatever that crap is. ABC news.
Maybe this is why we call couples an "item." OK, generally we don't, but I've heard people say it before. My question is... do we call them Brangelina because we think of two people as one "thing" or are we just too damned lazy to say both of their names>
Neither answer would surprise me, and I don't know which is worse.
