revenge of meg's nerdy hobbies

Of course the only one to pick "No, you're still crazy" was my ever-loving twin. TAKES A CRAZY TWIN TO KNOW ONE I GUESS.

I am looking around for turpentine or mineral spirits to make my own furniture polish (thus we are lead down the path to destruction via innocent hobbies) but Walmart only had big jugs and enormous jugs of it and the thought of walking to the UO Bookstore yesterday kind of made me want to spit. I did make some of olive oil and beeswax which seems to be working out pretty well. I assume that the turpentine does something to the mix, but I'm not sure what. Maybe it makes it soak in the wood better? or keeps it liquid? IDEK.

Still working on the purple wool. I feel that when I celebrate my fiftieth birthday, I will still be working on the purple wool. Well, maybe not, but it makes me grumpy to look at it and yet I must bust through it somehow. I spent all yesterday evening looking at spinning wheels I can't afford on eBay. Also, my left forefinger is still hurting a little ... but I want that damn purple wool to be done with! I forge mumbling on.

Spring Forward Sock One is to the heel flap. You know what defeats me every goddamn time with socks? Heel stitch. (Slip one, knit one across right side of work, slip one, purl to end on wrong side of work.) I'm not twisting my purl stitches this time around and I am still being defeated by heel stitch! If I've totally sailed across a row going KNIT SLIP KNIT SLIP KNIT S---fuck. at the end, I've only gone and done it twenty times! I had to rip half an inch back because I had managed to drop a stitch. Sigh.
