I forgot to mention the really annoying thing about having Dark and Kairi in your party is that Dark has the ability "Protect Girls" and you cannot turn it off, even if Kairi is lvl 99 and Dark is like, lvl 36 and you're grinding for rare drops in the Underground City, which is the hidden dungeon full of super high-level enemies that you have to do a side quest with Riku to get access to[1], he will jump in front of Kairi and take damage for her. Repeatedly. Wasting all of your items or mana in the process.

[1]Which is why the first time you're in the DNAngel world you really need Riku in the party, to trigger the scene with Satoshi that eventually allows you to do the side quest so you can get to this dungeon. It is an annoying sidequest, but it is totally the Riku's Hilariously Gay Angst Show. There's a scene where he so much as admits he understands Axel and his flaming death. "He wanted to protect what was important," says Riku. I lol'd.
Kairi's sidequest is more along the lines of 'unlocking abilities' as opposed to 'hidden dungeons of things to kill! AWESOME' and is all about being Troo 2 Ur Hart, but it's actually less lame than it sounds. It's more puzzle-oriented while Riku's is basically one big hack'n'slash across the worlds.
