So I was thinking about pairing name conventions and being annoyed at the younger fans because I am allowed after five years, as long as I don't actually hurt them. But then the meanings behind things get mangled all the time, and people are always coming up with all-new naming terminologies. For example the whole Prince of Tennis thing where the pairings are named in the style of tennis doubles couples, eg. Golden Pair (Oishi/Eiji), Silver Pair (Shishido/Ohtori), Thrill Pair (Fuji/Ryoma), and my personal favourite, Power Triangle (Tezuka/Fuji/Ryoma).
Congratulations on avoiding pairing wars! They are to be feared. Orla and I encountered a few back when we were writing GW fanfiction (and occasionally when doing X-Men fanfic), and they were always irritating. We still get the occasional email from people saying that they liked xyz story, but don't like the pairing, and could we either re-write it or write a new one where abc and def get together, please. (No, we can't.)
