but I have found my CD player!

SERIOUSLY PEOPLE I'M GOING TO BE IN A CAR FOR LIKE FOUR HOURS ROUND TRIP AND I NEED IDEAS FOR SOUKAZU WANGSTY PR0N.

I just spent half an hour searching the house because I knew my CD player was in a bag of stuff we hadn't put away yet and I couldn't figure out where the fuck it was. Eventually it was discovered hiding on the kitchen bench in a bag of chocolate Amy bought yesterday because the traffic was hellacious and I got lost like three times trying to find the River Road Fred Meyers and I told her it was either buy me a candy bar or explain to Mom why she needed a ride because her sister had commited violent suicide on Beltline Road.

And there's a lot of things I'm willing to do but riding in a car with my parents all the way to Portland and back without a CD player is not one of them. We used to go on Family Vacations and we'd be riding in agony in the back of the van while Mom sniffled audibly at old sk00l gospel singers warbling along to banjo and tinkly piano about how they were gonna be with Jesus at the end. I remember on the Canadian Trip we eventually hid the worst of these offenders' tape, because there was a song about how his lil gurl had gawn ta be with Jaysus (from cancer, if memory isn't exaggerating -- that was one hellacious trip) and my mother cried every time it played. And tried to make us listen to it. And then she'd rewind it. Personal radio-cassette players were like God's gracious gift for our sanity.

Now she just listens to Messanic praise songs but today she seriously announced that she had 'Israeli hard rock praise music' for us to listen to, until Amy and I staged a hostile takeover of the CD player while we were cleaning the house and peacefully listened to Relient K and Skillet instead. (A versus mix always reminds me of what happens when Mom and I are both on the computers; from the computer room, 'EL SHADDAAAAIIIIIIII' - from my room 'MAI YA HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII MAI YA HOOOOO MAI YA HA HA!!')

And now I'm going to make my CD for tomorrow and go to bed.
