AO3, sometimes i love you
so I'm thinking this thing where you can download A03 fic as .epub files is going to eventually end in tears, but on the other hand it's not like I'm not constantly trolling the mobile Project Gutenberg site as it is. =w= I'm at the point where I'm giving serious consideration to finding the least douchesque of the e-readers (no, I'm not buying a fucking Kindle) because reading books on Gatack is both a major cause of blindness in Megs and also draining my battery like unto a bitch.
... but it is nice to have all those books on my phone.
Anyway, yesterday I went to Gossamer to pick up the wool felt and thread I needed for my costume for tomorrow (my costume, which is simple, yet lame, yet with any luck vaguely entertaining, is that of a Kumori Scout. For achievement badges I have the pin badges that Beau decided to start giving out when you did something besides Actual Con -- his thought was like achievement badges in WoW or whatever. I said, What, like Girl Scout badges? and Dawn said if I did it, the troup number had to be 801. And thus, a really terrible idea was born. Rose at Gossamer carries wool felt, so I got the felt to make the sash (I wanted wool felt because I plan to wear this at several events) and the embroidery floss, to make this:
I think it turned out pretty well! I still have to do the sash itself but that's just a matter of some relatively straight-forward hems. I freehanded the outline of a cloud on the tan layer and used that as the guide for the white layer, then drew the words on the white layer with ballpoint and embroidered from there. Time ... three hours total? The sash shouldn't take more than half an hour.
