ugggghhhhh

Probably shouldn't have gone to knitting last night, since I ended up with a huge snarled mess of yarn on the needle, spent ten minutes trying to either get it to behave or failing that, to get if off the needle -- and then when I looked at it off the needle it was something like SEVEN FEET LONG.

After I got my eye to stop spasming with rage, I threw the Malabrigo Lace on the table and announced that if anybody wanted that blessed ball of blessed yarn they could have it with my compliments (someone ended up taking it, she has promised me a Frappicino next week) and went to go look at sock yarn sullenly. They had a skien of Malabrigo Sock in a colorway called Archangel, which is a beautiful sunsetty mix of golds and purples and burgundy reds. I considered the price tag, which was $20 for 440 yards. I considered the fact I had nothing to knit and I really wanted to knit that damn shawl. Malabrigo Sock is plied (because, yeah) and it's a lot less sticky and fuzzy than the Lace is.

I'm just about at the same part I was at before I staged my violent breakup with the lace yarn. I think it's going to turn out pretty nice, sort of angel wingish.

I have no idea why that damn lace yarn behaved like it did. I get along great with every other yarn in the Malabrigo line! Worsted and I are like, BFFs! (We are not MFEO because it's kind of expensive.) The Bulky weight and I adore each other!

The only thing I can figure is that since the shawl has to be cast on loosely, I did a knitted cast-on and between one thing and another, the first row must have gotten twisted up and tightened.

I have no idea what to bring tomorrow. I mean, obviously water and sunscreen since allegedly it's going to be like, 82F tomorrow. But how are you supposed to pack lightly enough for a four mile deathmarch and still have enough stuff for watching the parade after? It is very confusing to me.

(by the way I put in an order at knitpicks - much smaller after aforementioned tantrum at Knit Purl, but I gotta have some hat needles - last night, and so help me, they claim they sent it out today. WHAT HAPPENED TO KNITPICKS, GUYS, IT'S LIKE THEY'RE SHIPPING LIKE NORMAL PEOPLE.)
