So today after work I wanted to get a half-price frappachino at Evilbux while they're doing the half-price thing, and Pioneer Square's line was strictly incredible, so I oozed over to the Governor Hotel one and stopped by Knit-Purl to ask a stupid question about the Spock Cat. After Sandy answered my stupid question (the directions have you turning the cat inside out to do the three needle bind off for the body, but don't mention explicitly to turn it right side back via the crotch hole, and I like to be clear about this sort of thing) I started off to the bus stop, and was stopped by a tourist asking how to get to Hawthorne.
One thing led to another and because we're pretty nice to visitors in Portland, even if we don't care to have you live here, I walked her down to the 14 stop by City Hall (it was like, two blocks out of my way anyway) and we talked about about the city, as one does. It sounds like she was thinking about moving here. She's from San Diego.
LADY: So do you mind how it's all chilly and overcast all the time?
MEG:

MEG: (LADY, IT IS SEVENTY TWO ACTUAL DEGREES RIGHT NOW)
MEG: Nah, I don't like heat.
To make it worse, I hadn't even thought about it being overcast until she said something. THE CLOUD COVER HAS A BLUE TINGE, OKAY. I AM DESCENDED FROM DELICATE IRISH MOLD BLOOMS AND WILT DRAMATICALLY IN HEAT.
Legs are finished on the Spock cat! I clearly need more sleep because it took me like ten minutes to look at the pattern and realize that yes, it was supposed to work like that. Now I need to finish putting the legs on the long needle and forge bravely forward on the body.
