when a knitting company describes a pattern as 'mindful' 'great for company or travel', 'process-knitting' or god forbid, 'zen', what they actually mean is 'this pattern is four feet of back and forth stockingnette stitch and you may actually attempt to stab yourself with your needles in lieu of working one more inch of stocking stitch in cotton yarn'.

So yeah still not planning on making a Skif any time soon.

today was AWESOME and by that I mean, one of my residents was down with a cold, and just when I was getting ready to go to lunch, someone else was like UHHHH YOU SHOULD GO HELP HER and I walked into ... well, I'm sure some of you are eating. Insert half an hour's worth of soothing remarks, showering and bleach spray. "I don't know who did this! Who did this to me?! Who made this mess??" "Poo-flinging monkeys, honey Never mind, I'll get it cleaned up for you, it's okay."

and that was pretty much my day, plus I'm not entirely recovered from That Damn Cold, so whenever I try to walk fast or, god forbid, lift someone, I start wheezing like ... something that shouldn't wheeze. plus it was moodswingy weather all day and the new bus stop for the 20 doesn't have a shelter and I seriously, seriously thought I was going to die of exposure before it got there. =w=

but I got some kibiso silk from habu textiles at knit/purl, which unwillingly intrigues me. it's like, thrower's waste? dyed? but without the silk-glue taken out? I mean to fiddle with it tonight because I cannot figure out what will happen when the thing gets washed.

also I have a terrible confession to make and may have to turn in my PNW-er card: So the Pioneer Square Starbucks has the fancy Clover brewing machine, right? and they're doing fancy single-origin coffees in it, right?

....I can't actually tell the difference between the different coffees. It's like my palate is split between 'gross' and 'not gross' and all these subtle distinctions I'm supposed to be tasting just ain't there. Then again, I'm the same way with wine, I'm one of those terrible people who honestly like sweet wines, and I can tell vaguely that they taste a bit different, but as long as it's sweet I don't really care about the taste bouquet exploding across my tongue or whatever.
