I bought myself I'm getting a skein of Happiest Girl sock yarn in I Never Promised You A Rose Garden (... there's a skien of something called 'city of roses' at Yarn Garden and if I don't get it I think I will purely curl up and dieeeee) for Christmas. Any ideas? 462 yards, here's a link to someone's stash: Read more... )

There's always ~*~entrelac~*~

Entrelac does amazing things to handpaints!

*suspicious* I've never done entrelac and I can't think of a pattern that only takes 440 of sock yarn

That's funny, I'm actually knitting a scarf with fan and feather with Tilli Tomas Pure and Simple in Atmosphere. The yarn's so gorgeous *_*

As for the sock yarn, I only knit pouches with those because I haven't gotten around to finding time to learn socks yet. The pouches turned out really cute, too! I put some linen-fragrance in there (a wax block of lavender) but my friend keeps some jewellery in there.

iTouch cases are fun too. I'm not very original XD

I think short bursts of colour look really nice in garter stitch -- I have some lovely blue and bronze Koigu KPPPM that I'm going to be knitting into Ysolda's Damson. I also would recommend Laura Chau's Milkweed Shawl.

A Clapotis hat? Not sure if 440 yards is enough but: http://almostrandom.com/needlesnhooks/patterns/clapotiscap.html
