I think a couple of years ago I resolved to spend less time buggering around LJ, although this year my lack of LJ buggering around has been in the form of 'have not had the energy to do anything but troll around for fic and complain about work to poor friends on AIM and consider a life of alcoholism and sadly conclude it would interfere with the crazy pills' and less 'I will do something productive with my life instead of writing pointless LJ entries'.
Work has been a form of awful inexpressible without a bunch of privacy violating stories about people who have no idea why they're here but would quite like to leave now, thank you. Holidays tend to bring out the crazy in the residents but this year -- probably due to the snow and caged feeling -- it's been worse than normal. Yesterday people kept slinking to the front desk and hissing things hysterically like Are you sure it's not full moon? and I kept hissing hysterically back, It's quarter-moon tomorrow! I looked it up!
Also Comcast came out Friday and switched the building over to digital cable, and three-fourths of the building threw back their collective heads and howled. They even gave us the simplified remotes! There really are some problems right now, in their defense. There always are, although I really could have lived without trying to explain to Comcast what was wrong with someone's cable, and then get a call on the other line from the resident's son because they called and had a cow at him. I was like, ACTUALLY, RESIDENT'S SON, I AM ATTEMPTING TO DEAL WITH THIS RIGHT NOW SO IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO LEAVE ME ALONE FOR FIVE SECONDS AND TELL YOUR PARENT TO SHUT UP--- (only more politely).
And then of course people keep coming up and demanding to know if I live at work or something, to which I can only reply, "Only when there's ten inches of snow on the ground." But one of the family members that I like told me she thought I did a good job and should keep doing it, so that was good.
I think I need a cookie. Or to read a lot of fic I haven't yet. I kind of need to call Soft Horizons and ask them wistfully if they have yarn gauges (the little wood type that has a 1 inch notch in it for counting wraps per inch) and if not can they get me one, please. I can get one off Etsy of course, but I'd rather have an Ashford one, considering my current theme in spinning shit.
work,
