Hey, so, remember all those months ago, when I said I was going to paint myself a Transformer?

There are flaws, a lot of flaws, but I'm such an abysmal photographer they aren't as obvious as they are in person. Started as TFA Bumblebee, is now supposed to be TFA Glyph. I'd link to the wiki, but it appears to by dying under the onslaught of movie-related traffic right now.

I might take some more pictures of her tomorrow, when I can use daylight that isn't fading. Maybe, if I work up the courage to transform her, I'll do some in her vehicle mode, too. No faction symbol for now, because I can't even freehand the Autobot insignia with a pencil, let alone tiny paintbrushes.

Also, when I was trying to decide what paint to buy, I thought it was a little strange that model paints come in over nine thousand shades of gray. I mean, all you need for basic gray is black and white, right? Why would you spend money on another jar of paint if you already have those?

I now know why. Mixing paint is a bitch. This paint dries pretty fast, so I had to mix it in small batches, and then hope the next batch I mixed matched the previous one closely enough that all the gray parts looked similar. Furthermore, and I don't know if this was caused by me doing wrong or what, sometimes the paint would separate a little bit while it was still wet. There are a few mottled patches where the last parts to dry ended up rather darker than the surrounding area, but I'm tired of messing with it for now.

The head I sculpted over with a two-part epoxy. It's a lot messier than it could be, and it would have been a lot easier to work on if I'd had a screwdriver to take it apart, but I started that part while I was still in England. I tried my best to preserve the light piping thing with the blue plastic, so the eyes kind of glow when light shines through.

In other news, Transformers: Prime (aka Robot Zombies) is pretty good. I still think Ratchet and Knock Out need to have a confrontation.
