I had the 'devil tooth' taken out last Thursday.  I expected to take this in my stride after some of the orthodontic-related dental stuff I've had to have done over the past 6 years.  However, what happened when I got in the chair wasn't much fun.

I tried to be calm and rational, I really did, but as soon as it was time for the anaesthetic my body ( Read more... )

Ah bless you, I really feel for you. I don't think it is very rational to be so scared of the dentist, but I really, really, really am. I too thought dentistry was a fear I had overcome through the orthodontist overload of my teen years, but at age 25 I had a little filling and honestly I was so scared of the injection I cried! The dentists have all come across it before though, Mawgen is right, and I am glad there was a viking on hand for you!

I guess the tooth could be telling you anything - since you are trying to think what it means I had a look in the Heal Your Body book. According to the metaphysical approach, the teeth represent decision making (so tooth problems indecisiveness), and gums are about backing up decisions (so part of that is feeling you have made the right decisions about things). Interestingly, both infections and smell on the breath is supposed to be a clue to anger and thinking/speaking badly of someone. Don't know if any of it rings true for you.

Meanwhile I support you in feeling weepy, I would too after that experience, I send you astral hugs to help you get back to yourself.

Dentist man was very good and he did take it all in his stride. When I went back yesterday he told me how well I'd done, bless him.

Yes, some of that does ring true so thanks. I know sometimes shit happens and there's no deeper reason but I'm always interested to investigate the possibility. I had a look in the back of You Can Heal Your Life (I thought Heal Your Body was part of that now) but I didn't see that bit, which either means it's not a complete version of HYB or I wasn't looking properly in my pained-up state.

Thanks for the hugs - always appreciated. Hopefully by this time next week I'll be feeling perkier.
