I'm sure all you theatre geeks out there are familiar with the song. But anyway, I was driving back from Olympia to Seattle tonight, and I stopped somewhere around Tacoma cause I was getting sleepy and wanted to get a cup of coffee. Rather than park and get out of the car, I decided to just go through the drive-through. I'd never been to a Starbucks drive-through before. The voice from the speaker was a young-sounding guy, who seemed awfully cheerful for someone working at a Starbucks just off of I-5 at quarter till nine on a Saturday night. He said "Hello, thanks for choosing Starbucks," before he took my order, which I thought was cute. I ordered a vente mocha, and pulled up to the window, waiting for the car in front of me to be done. It took a little longer than I expected, but I didn't really care, I wasn't in a hurry. When I was finally able to pull up to the window, a boy who was probably about my age but looked younger, with curly blonde hair and blue eyes, gave me a tired smile. "You had the vente mocha, right?" he said. "Yep, that's me," I asnwered. "$4.90, right?" I held a five out to the window. "Oh, I'm gonna give it to you tonight," he said. "I screwed up with the order before you, and you had to wait way too long." I was pretty surprised. A lot of places will give a customer something free if they complain, just to save time and stress. But I wasn't even upset, and besides, this was a roadside coffee shop, one of the most transient places on earth, so it wasn't like they had to worry about repeat customers. They were just being nice, pure and simple. I told Taylor (I don't really care much if that's not his real name) to have a great night, and drove off feeling very happy and hoping that sooner or later, Taylor and Kristen Chenowith got together.
