WEST VIRGINIA


Okay, first of all, the rock that the date is on actually looks more like one of those tombstones you find in really old graveyards where a baby was stillborn or died the same day and just has the one date on it.

The colors on this one are pretty harsh. The mountaineer and the farmer are a, shall we say, familiar touch. The Phrygian cap too, but this time it's not on a pole being held by a robed lady, it's on the ground (It's still not on someone's head. Why is the Phrygian cap never on someone's head?). The Latin means "Mountaineers are always free."
