Right. So I'm in Italy. Florence to be precise, Firenze to be vernacularly correct.
I signed up for my University's Abroad program last term, and I've been getting things together, like my Visa and banking and health insurance and all that. And on the 9th, we flew over. Jet lag is a very large bitch, btw. Especially when you leave at 4 in the afternoon, spend 8 hours on a plane, are secretly kind of terrified of flying, connect to a smaller plane that has terrible turbulance and lets you feel every minor drop, arrive at 8am and aren't allowed to go to shower or sleep until 7 in the evening, if you don't care about missing dinner, because you have to go to meetings about things you have to do and what's going to happen next. Not fun. I was exhausted for days.
Buuuut, here I am. It's Thursday, class started Monday, there's no classes Friday and I'm going to Carrera tomorrow to see where sculpures got their marble and Ravenna the day after that for I don't know why but my Black Death class wants me too for some reason.
The people are Italian and I've been warned over a hundred times about the pickpockets and the gypsies. I don't speak a word, not really, but I've taken Spanish and French so the language classes aren't that difficult to understand. They eat snadwiches all the time and I would really kill for a hamburger, which they kind of offer by the Duomo for 9e in a +beer+coffee combo and Marcin says he saw a McDonald's somewhere, which is kinda sad.
Needless to say…. I'm kinda not awed. At all. It's just a city and I'm still in university. The people are just a little incomprehensible and I'm eating actual food for dinner. So. Yeah.
i'm failing as a human being,
because i have nothing else to do,
new year,
art,
traveling,
italy,
school
