riiiiight, so jenna was yelling at me for my last "update", so here ya go sweetie:
my comm professor is full of shit.
i was spacing out in class today (as you do) writing many a haiku (hahaha. thanks for the tip anna - i think it might just keep me sane....) and i suddenly start paying attention and realize that he's talking about language and anaylyzing literature and derrida and such (anyone remember the joys of engl. 210 with bromberg?? anyone>?????????) and he said that you can't relate Jane Austen's books (he just used her as an example) to the society of the time or put it into historical context because it's fiction. WHAT THE FUCK???? and that reading cannot be related to history because of what derrida said, "there is nothing outside of the text" THE MAN IS A LUNATIC!!!!! he fails to educate the rest of the class on the fact that that is one, i reapeat, ONE way of anyalizing literature and language, and certainly not the only way.
as if that weren't enough, he then starts in on the idea that "reality is relative". now this i happen to agree with, so i'm thinking that ok, maybe he's going to win back some brownie points. BUT NO!!! he brings up this point and then makes it the laughing stock of the class by associating it with schitzophrenia and multiple personality disorder.
so this brings me to may favorite haiku of the class period:
