Dimitri Needs Some Love

[Dimitri Allen enters the lobby confused. How could he be just walking out of his apartment, and ending up in such a strange place? He looks around him and raises an eyebrow. This isn't even scientifically possible unless the medication he obtained from the doctor was acting up at him ( Read more... )

[Dimitri's here, now? Well. Clive can't say that he doesn't approve of the potential company, honestly, and he waves in greeting.]

New here, I presume?

Clive? My god, what are you doing here?I Scratch that, what am I doing here?

[He walks up to him, wondering the time period in which he is from. He looks like the same when they departed after their plan failed, but he could not be sure.]

[Clive chuckles, watching Dimitri for a moment before answering.]

I'm... living here, Dimitri. Well, I guess I don't really have a choice in that.

You haven't been told about the place yet, then?

No, I have, but I was hoping you'd have more information. Really no one knows about this place, do they?

I wouldn't think to find you here though. I'm kind of glad I did.

Afraid not, no.

[Chuckling again, he leans back against the wall.]

There's another of me here, too. Though he's from a little earlier than I am...

Right, so are we on the same time? I got out of a jail sentence and I went back to living at home.

Everything that's happened for you has happened right? Jeez, I need some familiarity.

Ahh... I'm afraid that I don't know about your sentence, actually. For me, it's been just over six months since everything happened, if that helps.

Yes. Yes that's about right.

So what happened to you. I was surprised I never heard from you. I don't suppose we left on the wrong foot did we?

Well, Dimitri, I'll admit I found it rather difficult to orchestrate much contact from within prison, not even knowing where you'd gotten to.

[Sarcasm might be the lowest form of wit, but it's certainly the most satisfying when the alternative is remembering prison.]

[Looking downwards guilty, he nods.]

Ah. I'm sorry, I should have assumed...I got off with minimal charges.

Are you out now? I mean, is your sentence finished?

No, it isn't. So I suppose that part of the reason I know so little about this place is because the main thing most of its occupations want to know is the way out. I, on the other hand, am quite content to never find an exit.

I suppose that does make sense.

Personally, I am no use to were I am. Now that I completed my lifes work, I honestly have nothing to do with myself. I've been living off anti-depressants my doctor prescribed.

So I dunno. So is life.

[Clive contemplates that a moment.]

Perhaps we ought to find you something to do with yourself while you're here, then, Dimitri. I must confess it would be nice to have something to do with myself, too.

[Dimitri shrugs.]

I'm used to being useless. I don't think there's much we can do...

[A little sharply;] Don't call yourself useless, Dimitri.

Now. I suppose our main shared interest would be mechanics, would it not? We could work on some sort of machine again, although the purpose of this one will be something besides time travel, obviously.

[Dimitri laughed at Clive's retort. What did he care what he called himself? Well, at least he had both of their best interests.]

I'm sure we can do that. Hmm, in a purgatory of dementions, what kind of machine could we make? I mean, I'm sure I could build, but we'd have to find all sorts of things.

Well at least this place is big.
