Yes, the universe really does work in mysterious ways.
yesterday, i decided to go to the county tax office to get my vehicle registration renewed. My current one was almost expired and if I had tried to mail it in I would have gotten the new one much later. so ya, why not drive 7 minutes and do it in person? it would be easy and quick and i really like the feeling of safety i get when driving a perfectly safe LEGAL car. yay responsibility!!! I get this done rather quickly, make it back to my car, and decide "hey, i'm going to put the sticker on right now!" so i do. i start peeling up the sticker and quickly get a little frustrated with it... it's coming off in bits and pieces and the car starts to burn my knuckles as I reach into the small corner where the sticker resides (woo texas heat). I finally get it all off, and i reach for the piece of paper that has my new sticker... and then i realize... "wait a minute! the back of this sticker is blue!!! I did not peel off the right sticker. I peeled off my safety inspection sticker... which came off in many small pieces!!! fuck!!!!"
so i make it back home without getting pulled over. yay. i get online and start looking up close by places that will do a safety inspection. I plan on doing this as soon as possible, the next day hopefully. I am SO frustrated with myself. what a dumb careless move!! dumb!!! or so i thought...
I make it out to austin tire co. today. I was going to get a new sticker damnit! I thought that it would just be a quick check because nothing is wrong with MY car. My car is brilliant and wonderful and perfect and missing a lugnut.... and it needs a new belt.... and the battery died while the mechanic was checking it out so it needs a new one of those too.... also, it really shouldn't pass inspection but the guy gave me a new sticker anyway, i just have to change that belt SOON... oh... ok.
hahaha, so i have a new battery and one of the guys that was checking out my car told me that it would be about 78 dollars total to have them replace my belt. He also told me that since i'm a college kid i might be able to buy a cheaper belt somewhere else and either have him or someone else install it. might be cheaper this way. what nice guys!!!
and points to the universe for letting me do something so stupid which in turn probably made my life so much easier!!! yay inner being!!! so i'm pretty happy now and i'm going to do some research and get some quotes and replace that belt and get a new lugnut within the next few days. woo!!!
