Year in Review

This year:

Work: As I have blogged about numerous times, my job at my English academy has become insufferable. The decline in organization, lack of building upkeep, loss of any and all management, and sheer disregard for quality work and failure to prioritize education over money, have all led me to seek another job. I have landed what appears to be, by all accounts, an awesome position at Kyungbok Elementary School, which has been a prominent school for over 25 years, which is extremely organized, treats their teachers well, values quality teachers and quality education, and is even expanding and improving their facilities (they're building a swimming pool!). So, I have very high hopes that the work portion of my life is soon to be one of the best.

Love: I am still in an extremely happy, satisfying relationship with David Lee (이승현). We've been together for over two years now, 780 days. Since last year, we've spent a lot of time planning our weekends and planning our future. We've decided to get married sometime in 2012, after David's sister gets married (Septemberish 2011). Every single time we see each other, it's like turning on a light, suddenly I can see clearly. And somehow I never take our time together for granted. Somehow every second we have together is crucially important.

Family: Man. I love my family. Christmas was weird this year, Liz and I both video-chatted in, while Christine and Matt spent time at Matt's place. Next year, I am coming home for Christmas, because I will FINALLY have a Christmas vacation!!

Abode: I still love my apartment. I will miss it a lot. In March, I have to actually FIND my own place. For that I need key money (a deposit of $5,000-10,000), which is going to be tough to arrange. Putting down key money significantly lowers your monthly rent, which is important, and prevents you from spending your savings. But. It's a lot of money.

Self-image: I lost even more weight, and I weigh 120 now. It is NOT OKAY. My face looks much older. And I am sick all the time. I need to: eat (much) more, and exercise. I do have some pretty clothes now though. ^^

Life in general: I'm writing this from an "I'm sick and it's cold outside" perspective, but I feel like things have gotten tough this year. Fortunately I can also see the light at the tunnel, which is: not working at this job anymore. At least I have the perspective to see that it is not Korea that is the problem, it is my job. And jobs, they sure are easy to get, apparently.

Health, on the other hand...that I need to work on myself.
