Today I taught Michelle to make the cherry pie I had created last weekend when I had bought an abundance of cherries at COSTCO.
And, wow, it was the most beautiful pie I have ever made. I guess it helps if you are showing someone else the exact proper way to perform each pie.
I listened to this really amazing songbird on the way back from the Hamilton Hotel pool, where there were about a hundred attractive but intensely obnoxious early-twenties hooligans. Some of them were models in Korea, apparently. The guys, that is. Not the girls. And a lot of the guys were wearing not merely speedos, but THONGS. Oh yes, it was very special. After I took my glasses off and jumped in, however, I didn't have to look at them booty-dancing for no apparent reason or pushing each other into the pool, and then I was much happier. I went with my co-worker Chris and his Korean girlfriend Blake, whom we taught to swim a bit. It was really kind of neat.
Also I watched a cicada (who have been one-upping each other with their trilling contests by the playground lately) wave one front leg at all the traffic going down the eight-lane street that I cross on my way to work every day.
I just finished reading "The Devil Wears Prada," which I feel certain made me a worse person.
