I really think my life is most exciting on weekends.
This morning I got up early because my Brita pitcher was supposed to have arrived but they said it wouldn't be in till tomorrow (they called today though, so I assume it's in now, even though they didn't leave a message). So I had all this free time, and I went to lunch. I managed the entire very short interaction in Korean:
What would you like to eat?
Please give me stone-pot bibimbap.
That will be 5000 won.
Sorry, 5000 won?
Yes, you want stone-pot bibimbap, right?
Yes.
Thank you!
Thank you!
I was so proud. My waiter didn't have to switch to English at all.
Also, I heart bibimbap.
Then I bought a plant (a Boston fern! I thought of you, Jill.)
I went in early to school all full and happy, finished my progress reports, and am back onto a normal schedule. I'm teaching an extra class this month while the other American is on vacation, and that means I teach classes straight from 2:30 till 8 PM, but it's not so bad because I don't have time to think about it. The kids in the extra class are pretty sweet too, though there are seven boys and only one girl (Joan, who gave me a pen with a little Korean girl attached today). My next goal is to finish my honor's club workbook before October 18th so I won't have to worry about it when I go to Gwangju.
There's a new reading teacher, Iris, who is observing my most difficult class tomorrow. Hmmm.
When I got home I was all inspired and decided to test the limits of my toaster oven.
I made chicken and sweet potatoes and onions with olive oil and black pepper and Italian seasoning. And it came out AWESOME.
Also, I am drinking peach juice, which comes in one-liter cartons and is cheaper than OJ, and is so sweet and wonderful.
