waiting waiting waiting
The suspense over this grad school wait is killing me! I guess I expected that after I heard back from one school that the rest of them would come flooding in. I'm reading about all of these people preparing to go into their interviews... U of W didn't ask me to come for an interview. I checked their website and the ling. department recommended me for acceptance also. You would think that if the grad. dept. let me in once, they'd let me get in again under a different department. I guess it doesn't really matter, it's the same school, so it's nothing to get excited about-- I got into the dept. that I wanted anyway.
WHY MUST THEY TORTURE ME LIKE THIS?! AAAHHH!!
Hah, anyway.
Yesterday was nice. Alex and I went to school, I ran, he dicked around, and later we attended a brown bag concert. It was lovely! We got tickets to attend two concerts in the first week of March. That should be fun. We went to Premier Gourmet and got fancy beer and I got a $28 bottle of cab. that I look forward to delving into soon. For a change, Alex planned dinner and we had barbeque tofu sandwiches with spinach salad. It was nice not to have to cook for a change! ...and it was nice of him to do it. We played poker yesterday and it sucked.
My Godmother randomly sent me money to take Alex out to a fancy dinner. I can't believe that she did that. Seriously, it was such a nice thing to do. I set up a reservation at Mother's for next Tuesday and it will be the first time I've ever eaten at a "fine dining" restaurant. How exciting!
... I've been busy but I've been enjoying myself. I'm not letting the stress of acceptance vs. rejection get to me. I've already been accepted SOMEWHERE, so it's not like I'll have to worry about being in Buffalo for another year. Yes, things are good. I'm increasing my mileage, eating well and reading much.
Alex is taking the subject GRE in April and my marathon is in May.
So, I'm helping him study and he's helping keeping me motivated. He was being gloom and doom about it yesterday and I told him that if I, Heather, with my short little legs, can run a marathon, that he can do well on the subject test in his field. He moaned and whined some more, but the both of us know that the both of us will find a way to get both of our respective goals accomplished.
White York is playing a show with Against Me! in Pittsburgh. The Foo Fighters decided to take the night off and AM! wanted to play another night so Tom texted Alex and asked if WY would play and Allr just about crapped his pants. Hah, It is kind of funny if you think about it. I told him that, really, WY is filling in for the Foo Fighters. HAH! So that will be a fun little trip to Pittsburgh. This weekend is a show in Oswego and then Black SS and Vitamin X are playing a show Monday in Buff. Fun fun... it means that I have to take time off from work (and it's frustrating to have to do) but man, I haven't been to a good show in ages.
Enough rambling, more time for reading before work.
