I spent all day yesterday moving out of Enfield 67. Heather and Mike left first for Boston, then Chaktobb and Sarah for Hartford. I emptied my room and then helped the girls clean out the downstairs. When I looked around on my way out the door, I saw an empty house. How strange.
I said goodbye to Bah, and about an hour later to Lesley, then Ruth and Veronica, then Thomas, and then Matt. It didn't hit me until I was driving down Rt 9 towards Belchertown, alone.
In my parent's kitchen an hour later, my dad hugged me tightly and said "welcome home, Jo." He was right- I was home.
While I already miss my friends dearly, and know that we may never share a house again, I am sure that we will always share a home. This is true:
Leah is my home.
Veronica is my home.
Heather is my home.
Alek is my home.
Matt is my home.
Sarah is my home.
Mike is my home.
Lesley is my home.
Ruth is my home.
I am my home.
It's going to be hard to have to carry you in my heart without having you at the same time at hand. Know that I love you deeply, and that I have let you help me grow. You are my best friends.
