Kiss response #2, for a_georgia_peach

(( Note: This is only canon in my Oceanic 6 'verse if
a_georgia_peach wants. I just liked the idea, is all. 8D ))

James wets his lips and works his jaw for a moment, waitin' fer his ears ta pop as the plane lands on the private airstrip in Hawaii.  Jack and Sun sit across from him, neither one meetin' his gaze, although he can't stop lookin' at them, feelin' pretty sure this would be the last time all six a them would be together.  Shit was gon' change, that much was obvious, 'cause shit already had changed.

They're about ta land and meet their families and loved ones fer the first time in five months, if it's really been that long or that short a time.  James doesn't disbelieve the calendar provided by the Oecanic rep, but it feels like he spent a lifetime on that island, not less than half a year.  He's not sure he's ready ta enter the real world yet.

About ta meet their families and loved ones.  Thinking 'bout that makes James almost laugh, but he ducks his head to hide his smile from the others, since they'd only be confused and maybe worried he was goin' insane.  He still weren't sure why he put down her name as someone he wanted ta see on the runway.  Maybe part a it was to avoid the pity looks from Jack when he said he didn't have no family to contact, maybe part was some stupid plan ta distance himself even further from those beautiful, poisonous eyes of Kate.  It had certainly given him some amount a dark pleasure ta see Kate's brows furrow when James said the name of the woman he wanted ta meet him.

Hell, he had only met her twice afore the plane crash, hadn't even been involved with her or nothin'.  Not like she had anything worth his trouble, after all, since she was only a bartender or a waitress or something; James didn't even remember that much.  But he remembered her huge, acorn-brown eyes and soft chocolate curls framin' her heart-shaped face.  He had told the Oceanic rep that she might not remember him or, if she did, she might not wanta come all the way ta greet him, but the rep had just given him an amused smile, like she thought James was bein' modest or somethin'.

No matter.  They had landed -- bumpily, but, hah, James had been through worse -- and Jack had already unbuckled his seatbelt, Hugo and Sun followin' suit.  James stood up last, watching Kate look down at the large door sliding open, holdin' Aaron to her breast as if she were really his mama.

The tarmac on the runway glared in the bright south Pacific sun, and at first James couldn't make out any of the figures standin' there, but he followed the other four -- five, includin' Aaron -- down the walkway and entered the real world again.

Hugo was immediately enveloped by a tiny woman a third of his size, Jack was wept over by what looked ta be his mom or sister or somethin', and -- James saw the petite brunette with the eyes worth dyin' fer, and he smiled.

Steppin' up to Savannah McBride, James felt a grin splittin' his face in two.  God damn, she was as fuckin' beautiful as he remembered, even with her cheeks damp from tears -- which just made James grin wider.

"Hi there, darlin'," Savannah said quietly, looking up at James.  Her accent and warm voice reminded James of late nights in New York and warm lazy afternoons down south.

He didn't bother to reply, didn't bother ta look 'round where he knew he'd see Kate staring at him, but just bent down and kissed Savannah like he never done kiss no one before.  God damn, it were good to be home.
