Paper Hearts
“What would you do if I left you?”
Hankyung’s head snapped up. He stared at his boyfriend with wide eyes. He was sure that he looked like he was about to cry.
“Ni wei shenme yao li kai wo?”
Heechul’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “What?”
Hankyung blinked, not even realizing that his mother tongue had come out.
“Are you leaving me?” He whispered.
“I never said that. We have grown apart though, have you noticed?”
“What?”
“You’re always hanging around Siwon, joking in your Mandarin, having fun with Ryeowook and Kyuhyun. You never have time for me.”
Hankyung gaped at him. “You’re the one who’s so busy filming your drama! You’re never home! I barely see you.”
Heechul lowered his eyes. “I miss the old us.”
“We haven’t changed,” Hankyung murmured. “I still love you as much as I did when we first got together.”
Heechul nodded. “I’m getting old,” he said absentmindedly.
Hankyung frowned. His Korean had gotten worse since his return from China, but he was pretty sure the words that came from Heechul’s mouth were not the ones he had wanted to hear.
“No, you’re not.”
Heechul looked up at him. “You never answered my question.”
“What question?”
“What would you do if I left you?”
Hankyung was silent for a moment. “What would you do if you left me?”
Heechul diverted his eyes, choosing to stare at a spot on the table a short distance away. “I guess I’d have to find another you.”
