Shoot... I totally forgot what I was going to write about. I had it a few hours ago... but watched a movie and an episode of boston legal so brainwash.
uh...
Trained this morning.
It was SUPER TIRING!
We jogged 4 rounds around the oval with sprints. Then did Plyometrics TWICE! After doing the whole thing once Coach told us what we did wrong sooo did it again!!
Nikki vomited. Ate Riki's foot hurt. Caroline was dizzy. Everyone was totally feeling the burn! Everyone was seeing STARS! no kidding!
I looked at things and it was just dark... everything went dark! It was incredibly HOT! The scorching sun...
After plyo... catch and throw, then toss batting, then scrimmage..
We started at 8am and ended at 12nn.
__________
Okay now I remember...
It was during training... during the game. I was sitting down waiting for my turn to bat...
For the past few months I've been asking myself if I love softball, the same way I love badminton. Because I seriously love badminton, there's no sport like it!
I need to love softball, you see. I'm going to be playing it for the next 4 years so I need to be totally committed to it. I can't just play for the sake of playing. I NEED TO LOVE SOFTBALL.
So I've been thinking about why, why why...
And now I think I know.
Softball is a no fear game. You hesitate, you doubt yourself, you think twice... you do any of those and you can't play.
Softball leaves no space for error. Any error and you might as well lose the game. When you're out there, on the field, in the scorching heat...you're sweating and you've taken your position...people are yelling and cheering...your coach is telling you what to do, where to stay, telling you to watch out for things...your teammates are cheering you on... and the batter finally takes her place and ready to rip that ball towards you...
If it comes to you, you can't not move. You can't no go for the ball. You can't wig out. You have to stay there try to get the ball.
It's scary because if you miss it you could seriously get hurt. Any wrong move you could sprain your ankle, bruise your ribs, break your fingers.
Imagine hard balls coming towards you and all you have to protect yourself is a glove on your left hand, if you're right handed.
Imagine runners coming towards you not minding you, ready to bump you if you get in the way, ready to slide or dive at you, with their steel spikes.
YOU ABSOLUTELY CAN'T DOUBT YOURSELF BECAUSE IF YOU DO YOU MIGHT AS WELL TAKE YOURSELF OUT OF THE GAME.
Softball gets rid of that fear. The fear of getting hurt. the fear of inadequacy because you're a team and if one falls you all fall...
There that's all I can think of...
And that's all that I'm going to need for now.
If I think of another reason I'll post it, ASAP. haha!
